A lovely day to go sailing in Fish Creek, Door County, WI

Our dear friend Bruce invited us on his sailing boat, The Friendly

We could not have asked for more perfect weather.  We had an abundance of fluffy clouds, blue skies, gorgeous sunshine, no humidity, tiny waves and gentle breezes.

This was my first time sailing, and the kids too.  My husband, Emanuel, is also a professional sailor, so he felt right at home.

Ethan, 15, got to sail the boat on his own moments after setting foot on his first sailboat ever.  Mom (me) was terrified.  He did a brilliant job, even though I was sweating bullets.

The men took care of the work and logistics of sailing a ship, they also explained many things to us, like why our boat was completely slanted on it side (mom panicking…).  Aparently what we were doing was called a real thing called heeling the boat, which ensures both a speed and stability advantage by increasing the waterline length.

Emily Reese, 12, and I enjoyed the calming wind and beautiful sights with Lola, the Newfoundland dog that we all fell in love with, including me (I usually do not like animals), I could have totally taken her home with me. I may or may not still be contemplating it.  She was so sweet and so protective, a true lover.

The lush, green scenery of nature completely surrounds you.  The blue waves just lull you into utter relaxation.  That's it, I am officially totally head over heals in love with sailing.  I hope that we have many more opportunities to sail again in the future.

After a few hours of sailing, then men went ashore to bring us lunch. We know, we are #spoiled.

We had a fresh and delicious vegetarian meal from Fish Creek Market; veggie sandwiches, cookies and Sweet Cherry Juice from Door County.  So delicious.  If you are ever in this area, you must check out this market.  They will customize your sandwiches to fit whatever you are craving.  Plus, great options for vegetarians like us!

Later, we took a dip together in the water, which was ice cold, we froze.  But it was awesome.

I feel so blessed to travel the world with my husband and children and do amazing things together, like sailing in Door County. I highly recommend sailing anywhere, but especially in Door County for serenity and peaceful relaxation.
